I'm a firm believer in engaging with the public about language science. I got my first taste of language science public outreach when I was a research fellow at The Ohio State in the summer of 2018. Since starting my PhD at UMD, I've been a member of the Language Science Center and volunteered with their outreach team. I also joined the Language Science Station at Planet Word, a language museum in Washington D.C. The Language Science Station is a multi-university partnership, which trains students who are underrepresented in the language science community and introduces language science to the public through demonstrations and research. As a part of the Language Science Station, I’ve been able to not only mentor other students from various universities but also continue to introduce language science to the public.
I'm a bit of a nomad. I was born in New Jersey. I made a huge circle around the East Coast of the United States and lived in Alabama, Georgia, and Connecticut before returning to New Jersey. However, I consider myself a New Jerseyan through and through.
I attended Rutgers University-New Brunswick from 2015 to 2021 and earned my B.A. in Linguistics with minors in Psychology and Cognitive Science. I briefly attended Bergen Community College from 2016 to 2018. I'm currently working towards my Ph.D. in Linguistics at the University of Maryland-College Park.
If I weren't a linguist, I would either be a historian or meteorologist. In my free time, I like to watch The Weather Channel, read up on whatever historical topic interests me at the moment, and hang out with my two cats, Pop and Misha.
