Hi, I'm London (she/her/hers)!
I'm a Linguistics PhD candidate at University of Maryland. My advisors are Dr. Ellen Lau and Dr. Colin Phillips.
My research broadly seeks to address two questions. First, to what extent is the bilingual lexicon interactive such that speakers access their L1 even when in an entirely L2 environment? Second, how are morphologically complex units mapped across lexicons?
I use behavioral experiments and computational modeling to address these questions. My research currently focuses on L1 Mandarin Chinese - L2 English bilinguals. Mandarin Chinese provides an excellent case study for this question of cross-linguistic morphological organization due to its extensive use of compounding as a means of morphological productivity.
I'm extremely grateful to my awesome cohort who have been a great support: Jingyi Chen, Katherine Howitt, Fedya Golosov, Joselyn Rodriguez
